Experience one of Costa Rica's most treasured culinary traditions through our Traditional Tortilla Workshop. This hands-on activity invites visitors to discover the ancestral techniques used by rural Nicoyan families to prepare handmade corn tortillas, a staple food deeply connected to the culture and longevity of the Nicoya Blue Zone.
Guided by a local host, participants will learn each step of the traditional process, from preparing the corn dough to shaping and cooking tortillas on a wood-fired griddle. Along the way, the guide will explain the cultural importance of corn in the region, its role in the local diet, and how these traditions have been passed down through generations.
At the end of the workshop, participants will enjoy tasting the freshly made tortillas while learning about the flavors and customs that make this culinary heritage unique.
