Discover the beauty of one of Costa Rica's most traditional natural crafts through our Traditional Jícaro Handicraft Workshop. This hands-on cultural experience introduces visitors to the ancestral art of transforming the fruit of the jícaro tree into beautiful and functional handcrafted pieces, a tradition that has been preserved by rural families for generations.

Guided by a local artisan, participants will learn about the cultural importance of the jícaro in everyday life, its traditional uses, and the sustainable process of harvesting, drying, and preparing the natural shell. The artisan will demonstrate the techniques used to clean, carve, polish, and decorate each piece, explaining how these handcrafted objects have long been used as bowls, cups, containers, and decorative items throughout the Nicoya Peninsula.

Visitors will have the opportunity to create and decorate their own handcrafted jícaro souvenir while gaining a deeper appreciation for the creativity, sustainability, and cultural heritage that define this unique rural tradition.
